Sports are life

So last night I hung out with this guy. I met him through my aunt and uncles and right away I knew he wasn’t my type, but I still gave him a try. He drove down from Layton, we went to dinner, to a birthday party, and then watched a movie. After my roommate came home, we all sat around talking. Now throughout the “date” I totally wasn’t into him. He is too feminine, likes to talk about himself, weird sense of humor, is not an athlete and doesn’t even watch sports! For me, there are two things I look for right away in a guy, first he has to be LDS, and second he has to be an athlete! He is striking out on number two. So we’re talking with my roommate and for some reason he goes off about how sports are pointless. He thinks the NBA players get paid way too much and our schools are suffering because the money should go there. He’s bashing that the same thing is played on Sports Center multiple times a day and he thinks professional sports are just a money hungry business. I’m just looking at him thinking, “What is the matter with you?” He’s sitting here trashing on something I happen to love; sports are my life! That is so rude and annoying to be saying those things to me. I understand he has his opinion and that is totally fine. But don’t bash on something someone else loves! Are you an idiot? Needless to say we’re not hanging out anymore.
If you’re not an athlete, you just don’t understand. Athletes, true athletes, are a different breed of people. They tend to be more laid back, cooler, better social skills, more aware in social situations, more normal sense of humor. I can’t stand when someone says they “play sports” because they played basketball once in your driveway. You have to be on an organized team and be good to be a true athlete!! Otherwise, you just don’t understand
